Medicare is a federal health insurance program for people age 65 and older and some people under 65 with certain disabilities or conditions. There are four parts to Medicare and the first two parts, Part A and Part B, are known as Original Medicare:

  • Part A (Hospital insurance)
  • Part B (Medical insurance)

Medicare Advantage, known as Part C, is a Medicare-approved private health insurance plan that bundles Part A, Part B and usually Part D (prescription drug coverage). At Sanford Health Plan, our Medicare Advantage plan options include extra benefits that Original Medicare doesn’t cover, including vision, hearing and dental.
