What is Medicare Part D?

Medicare Part D plans are offered by private health insurance companies. Because Original Medicare doesn’t include prescription drug coverage, these plans give you insurance to help cover the cost of prescriptions. One plan option you can choose is a Medicare Advantage plan that includes Medicare Parts A and B, prescription coverage, plus extra benefits like dental, hearing and vision.
